Anderson Development Company is seeking a Director of Purchasing for our Adrian, Michigan facility.

Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategy aligned with business goals.
- Develop and maintain global purchasing policies. Manage purchase process from request for proposal through delivery.
- Central point of contact for all material suppliers. Manage relationships with raw material suppliers to “keep the pipeline filled” and maintain assurance of supply. Negotiate agreements with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company.
- Identify and pursue supply chain improvements and raw material cost reductions among qualified producers and potential new material suppliers. Assist in the qualification process, in collaboration with development and business staff.
- Measure purchasing process performance.
- Supervise Buyer, Shipping & Receiving department, and Tool Crib functions.
- Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet and/or identify potential and current suppliers.
- Effectively manage supplier performance. Assess suppliers’ ability to reliably supply products, services, pricing, including periodic meetings or audits.
- Assurance and leadership for purchasing and logistics process to comply with ISO9000 and RC14001 requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical field required, MBA preferred.
- 5+ years purchasing experience, specialty chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with purchasing and supplier management of materials, preferably on a contract and spot basis from international suppliers. Familiarity and experience with international incoterms and applications.
- Proven negotiation skills, with a strong understanding of contracting and negotiating strategy for mutual success.
- CPSM certification preferred.
- Experience/knowledge with purchase of MRO materials preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulations and standards associated with procurement and contracting.
- Maintain DOT, IATA, IMO training as required.
