Position Summary

The Controller VP of Finance has the overall responsibility for the Accounting Department and as an executive oversees cost controls, budgeting, profit planning, cash management, financial analysis, forecasting, negotiating and administration.

Essential Job Duties

  • Direct or coordinate an organization's financial or budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency
  • Supervise assigned staff including establishing and communicating performance expectations, provide positive and constructive feedback
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs
  • Capital expenditure equipment/leases
  • Review all contracts, terms and shipping dates are correct. Complete prior to customer presentation
  • Kick off meeting to make sure there are no changes to signed agreement
  • Direct and oversee all accounting, financial and internal accounting policies and functions of the corporation. Year end planning to reduce tax matters, work with CPA for year end. Direct non-merchandising departments such as credit or accounting
  • Establish finance and accounting systems and controls to minimize human error, fraud, and theft
  • Present monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement to management and accountant
  • Manage the daily cash flow to insure all current cash needs are met as well as present weekly cash flow projections to the shareholders
  • Maintain weekly funds needed to cover A/P and weekly payroll
  • Develop strategic long term financial budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare or present reports concerning activities, expenses, budgets, government statues or ruling, or other items affecting business or program services
  • Coordinate the development or implantation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems or other administrative control processes
  • Hold weekly production meetings to get status reports of equipment orders in order to manage the progress billings of open orders
  • Interact with the General Manager, Production, Inventory, Purchasing, and Service Managers regarding any issues relating to inventory, job costing, billing problems, Item Master adjustments, and job closing
  • Oversee Information Systems (IS) and Resource Planning (ERP) System, including M2M permissions Along with the President negotiate or approve contracts or agreements with suppliers, distributor's federal or state agencies, or other organizational entities. Responsible for all insurance needs of the corporation, including medical benefits, in order to minimize risk
  • Administration of Captive Resources Workers Compensation Insurance Directly interact with the accountant regarding yearly, tax planning, and involved in and responsible for fiscal year end closing, property tax, and other regulatory agencies regarding financial issues, including R&D credit process
  • Update M2M costing on new parts and parts without costs
  • Establish direct relationship with banking institution regarding all Capital and Operational financing needs, letter of credit negotiating, investing, asset management, and credit worthiness of the corporation. Quarterly reporting of financial statements/information to the bank, per line of credit terms
  • Responsible for overseeing that all regulatory issues regarding the 401K Plan are met and in compliance with IRS regulations
  • Handles/Customer write offs/customer credit with Presidents approval
  • Perform other related duties as assigned File 5500 form

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field required; Master's degree preferred
  • An experienced leader and financial executive with ten years managing the accounting department in manufacturing
  • Proficient in Made2Manage (M2M) software a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and various accounting programs
  • A high sense of urgency, strength of conviction, a level head, and a desire to work closely as a partner with the other senior members of the company's management team
