CUSTODIAN
The City of Burbank has an outstanding opportunity available for a qualified individual to maintain a high quality of cleanliness and order in assigned buildings; perform event set-ups; make deliveries, and perform related work as required.
You will sweep, mop floors, perform all levels of floor care maintenance including stripping, waxing, and buffing; dust and polish furniture, stainless steel and all office fixtures; order and replenish supplies; empty and clean waste receptacles; clean and sanitize restrooms; wash windows and walls; vacuum, shampoo, scrub and clean carpets; change lights; raise and lower flag; perform event set-ups and take-downs, and clean equipment and facilities for special events; provide information to the public; turn out lights, lock doors and windows; prepare building deficiency reports for repairs; take care of materials and equipment used in work; maintain building security; make deliveries, including materials for City Council, Boards, and Commissions meetings; meet performance standards; and occasionally drive on City business.
Requires minimum three years custodial or janitorial experience within the last five years in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar organization; knowledge of custodial procedures and practices, including floor care procedures; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. A valid California Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent is also required at time of hire. Due to mandated safety requirements, no one who is over 275 lbs. will be allowed to operate ladders. Use of a ladder is an essential function of the job. If you are over this weight limit you will not be eligible to participate in the recruitment process and cannot be considered for the position. A weigh-in will take place during your performance examination.
We offer a starting salary of $ $2,835 - $3,908/month ($16.35 - $22.54/hr) plus superb benefits including City-contributed retirement plan.
