The Position:
The Human Resources Director is directly responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resources functions. The Human Resources Director maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and City policies, programs, and practices. The position performs professional human resources work including recruitment and retention, benefits administration, leave law compliance, drug and alcohol testing program, worker's compensation program administration, and all other human resources functions.
The Ideal Candidate:
The next Human Resources Director must demonstrate personal integrity, and will have a proven track record of honesty within the workplace. He or she must have a confident presence, must be open and approachable, with an engaging personality that can foster relationships within the organization. The ideal candidate shall have the strictest standards for confidentiality, ensuring legal compliance. The Human Resources Director is a valued member of the City Management team and therefore will be expected to contribute their expertise to the overall mission of the City. As well, they will receive administrative support from other City departments, primarily as relates to finance and legal issues.
Qualifications
The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, human resources, public relation, or related field. Minimum of two years broad-based human resources experience, public or private sector, including advising and consulting on human resources issues. Specialized training in employment law, compensation, employee relations, safety, training, and labor relations preferred.
