Temporary Summer Assembly & Logistics Technicians
JOB SUMMARY
Logistics Technician is responsible for shipping and receiving product and parts and distributing inventory to the production line.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ship and Receive prime product and piece parts
- Loading and unloading of trucks and sea vans.
- Utilize SAP transactions to record material movements
- Safely and efficiently operate crane equipment, heavy machinery, and forklifts.
- Maintain external and internal shipping and receiving areas
- Conduct visual quality inspections of product
- Examine and inspect stock items regularly for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisor
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assist in shop floor layout and setup.
- Assist in inventory control
- Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of high school degree or equivalent
- Forklift/Order selector certification initially, and maintain certification in good standing
- Experience with warehousing, order picking, and piece part inventory
- Knowledge of inventory and assembly of such product
- Knowledge of basic computer operation and scanning devices
- Ability to work well and communicate with fellow employees.
- Ability to work in inclement weather
- Background with operating heavy machinery and forklifts desirable
- Background and knowledge of the proper and safe use of lifting devices.
- Background and experience with the operation of cranes highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS
- Ability to work in standing position
- Ability to assist the lifting and/or transportation of objects up to 60 pounds and 16’ long for a distance of 25 feet on a frequent basis
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop or kneel to pick up objects up to 16’ long.
- Ability to work with various tools including power tools (including but not limited to hammers, saws, etc.)
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Typical large machinery assembly plant environment. Some exposure to dust and temperature fluctuations due to consistent opening and closing of bay doors. Noise levels may require ear plugs at times.
