Accounting Manager
Summary
The CERF Accounting Manager is responsible for the Accounting operations and SOX compliance of CERF. This position will manage the month-end close process and ensure financials are delivered on a timely and accurate basis. This position manages quarterly and annual external audits, assists in the management of SOX compliance and works with various departments to develop scalable, efficient accounting processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage day-to-day accounting transactions and GL team for CERF, includes overseeing the proper recording of accounting transactions in the General Ledger in accordance with GAAP and the Company’s accounting policies.
Facilitate monthly closings and issue timely and accurate monthly financial results. Present monthly results to Management in a clear and concise manner.
Review contracts and tracking of environmental credits for proper revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and Company policy.
Assist in tracking of environmental credits and renewable gas flow for forecasting and revenue recognition.
Assist in establishing systems to streamline processes and provide transparency surrounding the recording, delivery and sale of renewable natural gas and the generation and sale of environmental credits.
Oversee the billing of customers and the calculation of customer reimbursements.
Hire, recruit, train and lead department staff.
Manage the quarterly and annual audit procedures. Be the liaison for the external auditors to assist them in managing requests lists gathering support for their audits.
Assist in the management of SOX compliance.
Provide financial analysis support to functional and business groups including generation of ad hoc reports.
Ensure that all employees are well informed of accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
Lead various efforts to automate close procedures as well as manage the Accounting and Finance IT projects.
Recommend policy and procedure improvements.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field plus a minimum of 7 years of related experience and a minimum of 2 years of management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA recommended
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel. Advanced knowledge of accounting and database software.
