The Charlotte County Clerk and County Comptroller is looking to hire a Finance Director overseeing our Comptroller Division. This is a full-time position offering a full medical benefits package, including FRS Senior Management retirement and 9 weeks of paid leave in first year.
This is a highly responsible position managing the Clerk's statutory responsibilities as County Comptroller, County Treasurer, and Accountant for the Board of County Commissioners managing transactions with the BCC, public, federal and states agencies, special taxing districts, banks and investment firms, professional consultants, and other concerned parties.
The incumbent will work closely with Fiscal staff of the Board of County Commissioners to ensure that funds are being monitored closely and all accounting is in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Oversees the review of all financial transactions, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, 1099 reporting and other federal and tax reporting functions for the Board of County Commissioners, Clerk & Comptroller and Supervisor of Elections offices, including directing determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. Oversees the preparation of the annual CAFR report.
Qualified applicants should have a BA in Accounting; MBA or CGFO Certification is a plus. Previous Financial Management experience is required; Government Accounting experience is a plus. Preference will be given to Florida CPA Licensed applicants. Superior communication, organization and Crystal/Excel skills is also required.
Salary is based on experience.
