Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources the Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) serves as the first point of contact for the department. This position provides support to administration, faculty, and staff on general human resources matters. The HRC handles a broad range of issues that are sensitive, confidential and/or complex in nature.
The HRC performs activities that support of the administration of recruitment and employment, including guidance and assistance to supervisors, applicants and new hires throughout the employment process. The HRC manages general email accounts as well as three and six month evaluation processes for staff. This position utilizes many technologies to handle a wide variety of data entry, analysis, financial transactions and documentation for the department.
The HRC needs to be able to use independent judgement within an established set of guidelines. This is a non-exempt (hourly) support position.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Bachelor’s Degree and one year of experience, Associate’s Degree and three years of experience, or equivalent education and experience necessary for the position responsibilities. Experience in Human Resources, HR software (Cornerstone, Ellucian) and/or an educational environment may be preferred.
Special skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: general knowledge of current human resources laws and guidelines. Attention to detail and accuracy in work, financial record keeping, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and use judgement. Ability to use and adapt to current technology in the workplace. Familiarity with Microsoft Office particularly with Excel. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Able to lead by example, embrace change, demonstrate flexibility, and interest in technological resources and advancements. Maintains high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion at all times. Ability to exercise humor, teamwork, and fidelity in all aspects of work.
