CommonBond invites qualified applicants to apply for a Senior Property Management Accountant position at our Central Office in St. Paul, MN.
The Senior Property Management Accountant is an accounting professional responsible for all phases of accounting for multiple sets of property books, reviews monthly reports, assists in training new hires, review monthly reporting requirements by outside agencies, and provides support to the accounting department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ASSOCIATED TASKS
- General ledger and journal entry maintenance for property books
- Maintains schedules for assets, liabilities, and depreciation
- Produces accurate monthly and year-end financials for management and board members
- Reconciles bank accounts
- Prepares year-end audit schedules
Complies with all internal control procedures
- Assists with site budgets
- Acts as a resource for property managers regarding budget preparation
- Review monthly and year-end financials
Accurately prepares reports for distribution to management and various government agencies.
- Prepares, reviews and ensures timely property reporting to MPHA, MHFA and HUD in accordance with rules and regulations
- Prepares monthly cash flow statement
- Prepares audit working papers
Maintains accurate receivables and payables records.
- Ensures that accounts payable checks are properly documented and approved in accordance with established internal control procedures before mailing
- Ensures adequate funding for tenant security deposits and all payable checks
- Reconciles accounts receivable records to property management records monthly
- Calculate and bill management fees and escrow payments monthly
Provide backup and assistance to the Property Management Accounting Supervisor.
- Review staff reports for accuracy and transmit or mail to appropriate agencies
- Assist with review of accountant’s monthly financials
- Assist with implementation of new procedures
- Provide ongoing support and training to accounting staff
- Review year-end audits for accuracy
Participate in administrative functions.
- Provide back up support to other accounting staff as needed
- Maintains permissions across internal systems and banking relationships
- Participate in accounting team meetings
- Assist with training new staff members
Demonstrates a clear understanding and consistent use of software programs, including but not limited to YARDI, Prosystem Fx Assets, EZ Labor Time Management, Remote Deposit, and internet banking applications.
- Navigates throughout software on a consistent basis
- Produces Reports in Ad Hoc when necessary
- Assist with problem-solving
- Provides training to staff to various staff upon request
- Produces monthly financial reports in YARDI
Completes other projects as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum one year of experience with all aspects of accrual accounting through financial statements and audit preparation
- Experience working with multiple sets of books
- Experience with Excel and computerized accounting software
- Ability to design computerized accounting spreadsheets
- Ability to maintain tight internal control procedures
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to use 10 key adding machine
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, and communication skills.
- Strong figure aptitude
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to type data into a computer
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
- Ability to complete light filing
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines
