An industry leader in the sales and service of quality industrial equipment in the Pacific Northwest is searching for a Controller to lead its Finance & Accounting Department. Headquartered in Seattle with multiple offices in Washington State, their three operating companies serve multiple markets in the USA and Canada including end users in the Pacific Northwest and distribution partners outside the region. This position will manage a team of people, interacts with all levels of the organization as a member of the executive management team, and reports to the VP of Operations. This role is critical in managing the day-to-day business operations and accounting functions. An ideal candidate would have experience managing IT departments or processes, as there might be future role expansion into this area.
The responsibilities and qualifications include but are not limited to:
Job Description, Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing staff in assigned departments and areas of functionality, including hiring, professional development, performance management, training, procedural development and coordination of workflow.
Provide executive management with accurate and timely information, including monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting.
Responsible for accounting policies and procedures and related documentation.
Oversee accounting functions and staff for accurate and timely processing of financial statement preparation, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cash control, bank reconciliations, inventory management, fixed assets records, local and sales tax information reporting for multiple jurisdictions, and debt management.
Prepare, maintain and evaluate capital and operating budgets and projections.
Participate in strategic planning, tax planning, risk management, cash flow strategies and financial scenario development.
Coordinate and/or participate in the flow of information to outside sources for annual external financial statements and tax returns, as well as all compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting agencies. This includes responsibility that requirements of bank covenants, governmental contracts and all reporting requirements are met.
Maintain relationships with key vendors and professional service providers.
Ongoing review of procedures/business requirements to ensure most efficient processes are in place.
Manage special projects such paperless office strategies, process improvement, and future acquisition strategies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
BS or BA in accounting or equivalent degree required.
Mastery of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statement presentation, budgeting, financial analysis, and internal controls required.
At least 10 years of previous accounting experience functioning in a progressively responsible accounting position in a manufacturing, construction or technical sales environment preferred.
CPA and/or CMA certificate preferred.
Experience with MS Dynamics Navision or other mid-level ERP software, including job costing, preferred.
Experience with performing SQL queries for ERP databases such as MS Dynamics Navision and familiarity with automated ordering and CRM systems preferred.
Experience with standard business software (Microsoft) and excellent overall computer skills required.
