Chesterfield County is seeking a Senior Automation Analyst to analyze the Department of Utilities' information technology needs and make recommendations for improvements; perform day-to-day maintenance and support of department business information systems. Participates in the analysis and development of automated solutions to business problems. Confers with users to diagnose, investigate and resolve computer hardware and software problems. Develops and conducts training in the use of computer systems and software for department staff. Consults with vendors and the Information Systems Technology (IST) Department for technical support. Participates in the research and evaluation of new and enhanced hardware and software products. Maintains data integrity in department information systems, performs audits and other quality control activities. Responds to end user requests, runs reports and develops custom reports. Functions as the primary contact for technical issues related to laboratory and point of sale systems. Assists in the training of department personnel in the utilization of computer systems and software. Works with team to support the Help Desk. Perform other work as required.
Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration or a related field; three to five years of experience in the implementation and support of business information systems; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Working knowledge of microcomputer and network technology concepts as well as related software. Thorough knowledge of the principles of office automation systems. Strong aptitude to analyze routine to moderately complex business processes for the potential to convert to an automated solution. Demonstrated competence troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware, software and various peripheral devices. Ability to generate comprehensive documented processes and procedures and develop training materials as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be proficient in the operation of a personal computer and servers with multiple operating systems and related software and other standard office equipment. Project management experience preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with focus on developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Previous experience supporting laboratory, point of sale as well as other utility operation and warehouse functions. Intermediate skills producing and maintaining Crystal reporting analytics as well as ad hoc reports preferred. Experience supporting Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems or plant control systems desirable; within the water/wastewater industry preferred. Performs other work as required. Good driving record required. Must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
