As a Personal Lines Customer Service Agent, you will experience all aspects of German American’s culture and values while working with external customers to provide them with insurance protection for all of the things that they value. A blended learning approach with our company includes internal and external classroom training and certification, along with experiential, hands-on learning where you are able to work alongside seasoned team members to perform meaningful work. With your active engagement, you will help customers navigate issues in their lives where it means the most through German American Property & Casualty personal lines insurance, such as homeowners, auto, umbrella and so much more.
What You'll Do:
- The Daily Grind – Your focus will be supporting our external customers as you build relationships and act as their trusted advisor. You will retain existing business and grow new business through exceeding customer expectations, timeliness in response, excellent problem resolution, among other service excellence standards. Attention to detail in document preparation, review and follow-up are a must in the day-to-day of this position. You will flex your negotiation skills while working to keep rates fair for your clients. Perhaps most importantly, your deep knowledge of the client relationship will allow you to assess insurance needs, identify gaps in coverage, and provide recommendations. You will seek opportunities to upsell coverages and cross sell additional policies to complete the client’s coverage and provide peace of mind.
- You’re Part of a Team – You are a member of the Insurance team which includes team members throughout the entire German American footprint in Southern Indiana and Kentucky. This role offers amazing insight into the world of insurance and allows you to serve customers in a vital and impactful way.
- And
you have to be able to juggle – Multiple and
conflicting priorities will come up under specific time constraints. In concert
with your leader and other team members, you have to be quick to act when
issues arise.
What it Takes:
- Three years’ experience in a customer service field
- Current Insurance Property & Casualty License or willingness to obtain one within at time of hire
- Ability to travel for early career training purposes
- Ability to: acquire new accounts and retain existing business, manage and service sales pipeline, communicate effectively (written and verbally), maintain confidentiality, work with speed and accuracy, grasp technical information quickly, and work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to: Work with an agency management system, maintain detailed records of client and agent interactions
- Ability to interact effectively with third party vendors and insurance carriers
Bonus Points:
