We have an immediate need for a motivated, career-oriented individual who is passionate about performing hands on work as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer in our growing Peru, IN facility.
The Manufacturing Engineer will work the day shift and be responsible for the following day-to-day tasks:
- Applies proven engineering policies and practices in a manufacturing environment to improve operating performance and reduce waste, delays and costs.
- Provides for ongoing review and effective utilization of production methods, equipment layout, material handling, personnel, equipment and material utilization.
Designs and manufactures new processes and process changes within the facility by analyzing workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization in conjunction with Lean Manufacturing techniques
Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters. - Establish, implement, and maintain a quality process program throughout the plant in accordance with quality standards advocated by the company (including: all applicable ISO 9000 processes and procedures, etc.)
- Ensure the equipment and systems adhere to safety requirements, as well as local, state and federal industry regulations.
- Provide engineering direction to the production area staff. Recommend and direct improvements to the production through the implementation of new processes and equipment.
- Investigates and develops plans to install, rebuild, upgrade and relocate equipment.
- Manage and maintain an assembly drawing system for equipment, fixtures & electrical diagrams.
- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting equipment or machines that are used on the floor for production.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
- Oversee the installation and startup of new equipment and initiate any modifications, as they become necessary.
- Develop training criteria for operators on new equipment and answer any questions they might have.
- Confers with management, sales, engineering and production staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products.
Qualifications
- Must be authorized to work in the us without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
- Minimum Education: BS degree in Manufacturing, Automation, Industrial Engineering or related field and at least 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have ability to run/author own projects regarding line balancing and standardized work flow.
- Must have machine troubleshooting experience.
- Must possess a working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
- 5S and Six Sigma experience required.
- Previous experience working with high speed automation and value stream mapping required.
- Must possess strong statistical analysis skills using Minitab.
- Previous experience working on projects to improve efficiency and achieve cost savings.
- Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
- Must be proficient in AUTOCAD and possess strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite; primarily Excel and Word.
- Ability to travel domestic and international up to 15% to other HEN sites in US, Mexico and Europe.
