Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Clinical Audiologist in the Social Work & Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. The Clinical Audiologist provides audiological services to the community, and, as a member of the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program, the audiologist teaches an undergraduate class, guest lectures in graduate classes and supervises students in clinical practica.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct hearing evaluations, hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid fittings, auditory processing evaluations, and hearing screenings across the life span and completes all reporting and billing requirements
• Teaching Introduction to Audiology and Hearing Science
• Directs the VA Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Technology Assistant Program regional center at Longwood University
• Supervises CSD students in their audiology practica, presentations to the hearing loss support group, and presentations to local school districts on hearing conservation
• Assures the calibration of all audiological equipment
• Serve as a member of the Speech, Hearing, and Learning Services (SHLS) Leadership Team
• Participates in department meetings, CSD team meetings and committees
• Meets all university, SHLS, and third party payor requirements for licensure, certification, training, and documentation
Requirements:
• Master's degree or doctorate in audiology (master's may be acceptable if attained prior to the profession moving to the doctoral level)
• Licensed as an audiologist and hearing aid specialist in Virginia
• Certified as an audiologist by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Audiologist, including dispensing hearing aids
• Documented excellence in customer service
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong teamwork skills and experience
• Ability to move to meet clients' needs (e.g., at a table, on the floor, etc.)
• Must be able to carry portable audiometers
