Job Summary:
The Full Time Associate Music Teacher is an energetic, creative and skillful music educator who is responsible for developing students' understanding, skills, and appreciation of music, in particular choral music. This person nurtures each student's passions, talents, and boundless potential in the musical arts.
Job Qualifications:

2-5 years' experience with teaching and directing choral music programs and preparing choral performances, preferably in K-8 schools.

B.A. or Master's Degree in Music Education or related field, with a major or academic emphasis in Vocal Arts.

Able to pass state and federal background checks.

Clear TB and criminal background check upon hire.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
The Full Time Associate Music Teacher reports to the Director Of Music Programs and is responsible for developing, teaching and conducting the Grade 5 Mustang Chorus and Upper School Concert Singers. This person also leads the musical direction during the annual Upper School 4 Musical. Additionally, this person assists the Director of Music Programs during specified instructional times and collaborates on the arrangement and staging of music performances and events. The essential job responsibilities shall include but may not be limited to the following:

Teach, prepare and conduct the Grade 4 Mustang Chorus and Upper School (Grade 5-8) Concert Singers for school events, touring events, competitions and special performances.

Teach, prepare and conduct the music of the annual Upper School 4 musical in close coordination with the Theater Director and the Director Of Music Programs.

Teach and prepare electives and/or other lessons and classes relating to musical arts, as determined by the Upper School Head, Lower School Head and Director Of Music Programs.

Collaborate with the Director Of Music Programs in directing students during various assemblies and school and community events.

Meet deadlines and tasks relating to annual music programming as assigned by the Director Of Music programs.

Guide and develop students to become confident and successful with practice and performance.

Employ effective teaching methods and student management skills; employ adequate supervision to ensure student safety.

Lead and supervise students during tours and competitions.

Develop students' work ethic, team spirit and excitement to promote the highest level of success for the individual student and the music program as a whole.

Develop the students' understanding of a culturally and historically diverse range of choral music.

Communicate student progress with parents in a timely manner.

Teach all classes as assigned.

Evaluate the learning experience of students in curricular and social-emotional work.

Collaborate with the Director Of Music Programs and other teachers in the planning and execution of musical and theatrical programs.

Collaborate with teachers across disciplines and divisions to ensure curricular integration.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Division Heads and Director Of Music Programs.

Utilize best instructional practices, methods, materials and technology.

Cultivate and model a respectful, safe, creative, inclusive, and invigorating environment.

Evaluate student work through both formative and summative assessments, benchmarks and other tools to guide instructional planning and promote student success.

Strong understanding of independent school methods and ability to effectively integrate best practices of NAIS and CAIS.
