Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager - East Coast collaborates with the Business Development team and other staff to achieve revenue and partnership goals; participates in the audience development and membership sales for NCIA's robust events program, performs inside sales functions, and works closely with the Head of Growth to expand NCIA's membership.
Core responsibilities:
- Make data-based decisions and provide quantitative summaries of activities and outcomes.
- Prospect multiple businesses for membership and event sponsorship sales, via cold-calling, networking, email, and frequent face-to-face meetings;
*Qualify all sales leads based upon specific lead qualification criteria definitions.
*Close membership sales and refer leads (for fundraising and sponsorships/trade shows) to respective sales teams.
- Prospect and recruit attendees for NCIA's various networking and educational events via cold-calling and email;
- Articulate the association's value proposition to decision-makers to assess buying interest;
- Promote the association's products and services with various management levels and professionals across business disciplines;
- Provide baseline research within targeted accounts to identify the key contacts and critical account information prior to calling.
- Develop superior customer service relationship with prospects; maintain relationships with and act as a resource for members in region.
- Learn and demonstrate a fundamental understanding of the association's products and services, and clearly articulate capabilities and advantages to prospective members.
- Contribute to every component of the critical functions associated with fulfilling the sales cycle (forecasting, reporting, customer database maintenance and data entry, correspondence, and communications).
- Engage with social media platforms using original content as appropriate, create alerts on keywords, research topics and share information with individuals responsible for decision making in this industry.
- Update lead rank/stage and prospect interaction in CRM. A high level of proficiency with the following tools or other equivalents is required: CRM workflow, web-based demonstrations, shared calendars, Zoom,Slack, MS Office and/or Google Suite, as well as project management software such as Wrike.
- Regularly attend local cannabis industry events and occasionally travel to events to network and prospect, and represent the association; and
- Handling additional tasks as needed, related to NCIA's membership recruitment efforts, events, and organizational management.
The Business Development Manager reports to NCIA's Head of Growth. As a regular, full-time employee, the Business Development Manager is eligible to participate in NCIA's benefit plans as they may exist from time to time in accordance with the terms of the plans.
