Medical Director, Associate Veterinarian, Veterinary Surgeon S/N
Shelter Medicine is a lifetime career opportunity at the Norfolk SPCA!
As more humane alternatives and options are developed for Coastal Virginia's homeless animals, advanced and rewarding veterinarian positions are available at the Norfolk SPCA's two veterinary clinic locations. We are a leading community resource and dedicated animal welfare institution, with over a 20-year history of providing affordable, quality medical care to more than 150,000 homeless animals and underserved community pets in need.
The Norfolk SPCA believes shelter veterinarians must be compassionate, self-confident, innovative, and analytical thinkers. We understand the challenging often under-resourced environment shelter medical professionals navigate, and we are seeking knowledgeable and practiced individuals, who embrace collaboration and maintain open-mindedness when making difficult treatment, adoption, and euthanasia decisions.
Veterinarians must have demonstrable skills in high volume spay/neuter, general surgery, dentistry, daily rounds, and extensive knowledge in disease control and prevention. Norfolk SPCA veterinary facilities include in-house laboratory, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, surgical monitoring equipment, and access to mobile and outside veterinary specialists.
If you are an observant, fast-paced and a skilled clinician, have excellent management experience, engaging communication skills, are considered by your colleagues to be a motivator, mentor, and problem solver, we are interested in learning more about you.
