DESCRIPTIONS OF POSITIONS
Instructional Assistant II (IA II) – SPECIAL EDUCATION - $17.69 - $22.28 per hour
IA II - Knowledge of: Basic principles of child guidance and early childhood development; special needs and problems of students with disabilities; basic subjects taught; oral and written communication skills; record keeping methods; effective interpersonal skills.
IA II - Ability to: Assist a certificated teacher in an assigned learning environment; tutor students with disabilities in a general or special education setting; reinforce materials presented by the teacher; relate effectively to students with special needs; perform clerical support duties including data collection and progress monitoring; work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators; learn the methods, procedures and limitations of the assignment; monitor students in the classroom and in other locations on campus.
IA II - Education and Work Experience
- A high school diploma (or its equivalent)
- One year of experience working with students in an organized setting
- Two years of college (48 units) OR an AA degree (or higher)
- Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
- Minimum of 20 hours of specialized training in the area of autism/applied behavior analysis
- Minimum of 10 hours of supervision by a behavior specialist, school psychologist, or other appropriate personnel.
Instructional Assistant III (IA III) – BEHAVIOR - $18.90 – $23.89 per hour
IA III - Knowledge of: Working knowledge of the principles and practices of applied behavior analysis and positive behavior support; knowledge of autism and other developmental disabilities; basic knowledge of document requirements for special education students and programs; knowledge of and skills at using computers and other equipment to support learning, record information, adapt materials, and send communications; effective interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency with data collection methods.
IA III - Ability to: Work successfully with students with severe developmental delays and/or behavior challenges; apply principles of reinforcement and applied behavior analysis; interact cooperatively with certificated and classified staff, students, parents, and administrators.
IA III - Education and Work Experience:
· A high school diploma (or its equivalent)
· One year of experience working with students in an organized setting
· Two years of college (48 units) OR an AA degree (or higher)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Instructional Assistant II (IA II) – EXTENDED CARE - $17.69 – $22.28 per hour
IA II Extended Care– Schedule Information
- 75 Hours per week
- Work part-time late-July through the end of May (196 days) including school breaks and non-school days.
- Work is performed in a school environment at various locations throughout the district.
- Shift Hours range from 1:00pm to 6:30pm - For example, it could be 2:15 pm - 6:00 pm; 1:00pm - 4:45pm.
- We would do our best to work around availability if selected for the position.
IA II Extended Care - Knowledge of: Basic principles of child guidance and early childhood development; special needs of students with disabilities; basic subjects taught; oral and written communication skills; record keeping
methods; effective interpersonal skills.
IA II Extended Care - Ability to: Assist Site Leader in an assigned program environment; reinforce homework; relate effectively to students including students with special needs; perform clerical support duties including data collection and progress monitoring; work effectively and cooperatively with staff, teachers, students, parents, and administrators; learn the methods, procedures and limitations of the assignment; monitor students in the classroom and in other locations on campus.
IA II Extended Care - Education and Work Experience:

GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work part-time late-July through the end of May (196 days) including school breaks and non-school days. Work is performed in a school environment at various locations throughout the district.
