The State Training School for Boys is expanding its capacity and efficiency around safety. To accomplish this goal we’re are adding multiple Youth Service Workers. These are newly added positions that will allow growth and mission//goal achievement.
The State Training School (STS) at Eldora offers a holistic social, behavioral, psychiatric, academic and vocational program that utilizes counseling, treatment and consequences paired with praise and opportunity to males, ages 12 to 18 years old who have been adjudicated delinquent. Services and programs provide individualized treatment and offer comprehensive education, with a goal of transitioning the young man back to his community. The facility is operated by the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS).
The program available for residents includes:
- General education studies
- Special education programs
- Title I
- High School Equivalency Diploma (formerly GED)
- Competency-based vocational programs
- Counseling
Youth Services Worker
The Youth Services Worker (YSW) serves as a Cottage Parent for adjudicated Male delinquents. The YSW provides direct care services to the students at the State Training School for Boys. The facility provides 24/7-365 care for the young men with the intent of educating and rehabilitating them with the goal of helping them become productive members of society.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. or experience equal to two years of full-time work in a youth service program working directly in the treatment of adjudicated, at risk, or other youths needing service or assistance.
Salary: $34,028.80 - $49,732.80 Annually

The Iowa River Greenbelt Scenic Drive is a must do which winds through a picturesque landscape of valleys, woods and streams. Eldora is 45 minutes from Ames and Cedar Falls and only 22 minutes from Iowa Falls.
