The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Digital Marketing Web Developer to join its Digital Marketing department in VTC's Marketing Division. This position will work in a collaborative team environment to create and maintain various internet-based applications and maintain company's digital platforms during testing, planning, and execution stages. The ideal candidate will be familiar with all relevant platforms and technologies, measurement tools, and demonstrate an ability to help manage VTC's extensive digital footprint.
Responsibilities:
Web Programming
• Languages, including PHP, .Net, classic ASP, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS
• Small to medium scale internet-based application development
• General knowledge of UX and UI development and ability to translate design to implementation
• Experience integrating 3rd-party APIs
Application Management
• WordPress CMS - troubleshooting, upgrades, plugin management, theme and application customization
• Content Management - HTML and front-end design within a CMS and within custom applications
• Knowledge of Internet best practices, particularly as applies to web-based marketing and website design and functionality
Infrastructure Management
• Cloud-based Linux and Windows virtual servers (e.g. Rackspace, AWS, Azure) via Putty, service dashboards, FTP, etc.
• Familiarity with command-line interfaces, esp. Linux
• Database Management, including SQL and mySQL queries, and tools such as MySQL workbench, SSMS
DNS Management
• Provide technical support or training for systems and networks
• Act as liaison between end-users and higher level support
• Monitor system and network performance
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs and data backup and restoration
• Collaborate with other professionals to maintain standards and functionality
Experience and Education:
• Minimum 3 years prior experience in technical or digital marketing positions
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
• UX or front-end design experience preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of Virginia's tourism destinations and products preferred, but not required
Skills:
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and problems
• Experience using online platforms including CMS, Service Portals, etc.
• Experience using testing and optimization tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with other employees
• Strong collaborator, working well in a team environment, while also able to function as an individual contributor with self-direction and accountability
• Coordinate and track program progress and schedules
• Strong time management skills, deadline-oriented and efficient
• Ability to think both creatively and strategically
A valid driver's license is required. This position requires up to 10% in-state travel.
Salary minimum: $60,000.
