Schedule: 4:30pm to 1:30am, Monday-Friday.
Specific Job Duties:
- Lead, mentor, engage and develop teams to maximize their contribution. In addition to cleaning services, may also provide coordination for contracted and in-house services such as pest control, window washing, and specialized departmental services.
- Schedules, assigns and directs the workflow of a large number of custodial staff.
- Maintains inventories of products, equipment, uniforms and other supplies as needed to meet operational and customer needs.
- Interview, select, train and evaluate staff. Provide coaching and direction. Take actions related to promotions and discipline as appropriate.
- Work with building coordinators and department heads to manage special facility needs such as events or requests for irregular and emergency services.
- Receive and respond to inquiries and complaints from facility occupants and visitors.
- Maintain safety standards to assure compliance with federal, state, local and University Regulations. Lead organizational efforts to improve workplace safety.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
- Facilities Management (FM) is a service unit of approximately 700 employees who work behind the scenes, 24 hours a day, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of our beautiful Iowa City campus.
Experience Required
- At least 7 years custodial leadership experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to customer service excellence and high standards
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards
- Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization
